They Are SO Not Helping Him . . .

After this statement, I’m starting to wonder if Obama’s church is being paid by Hillary’s campaign:

Nearly three weeks before the 40th commemorative anniversary of the murder of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Reverend Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr.’s character is being assassinated in the public sphere because he has preached a social gospel on behalf of oppressed women, children and men in America and around the globe.

Well, no, really, it’s not “because he has preached a social gospel.”  It’s how he did it, damning America and vilifying Israel and such, that is causing character to be called into question.

I also find it remarkable that the term “African American Church” is used multiple times in the church’s statement.  I thought they were a Christian church.  Christ didn’t preach division of the races.  Now just what would happen if we had anything even close to Rev. Wright’s statements coming from the pastor of a “Caucasian American Church?”

One of the commenters on that thread nailed it perfectly:

Just words? When he made his debut on the national political scene, Obama told us there was no black America, no white America, just America. Now we learn that there is a black America and a black American culture that damns America and white American culture. Do you really think American voters are going to stand for that?

  1. The only way you can pin Obama down with this issue is if you are a binary thinker. If you examine all of the different shades of gray, and put them all into a complete context, then Obama actually ends up being the patient, open minded person who is able to look past insignificant imperfections in order to see the best in everybody. I think that is the type of President who can rebuild the respectability of the United States around the world. As it currently stands, most of the world would love to see the United States cease to exist, because of our arrogant white supremacist attitude that refuses to see the best in any person who has obvious imperfections. The United States can only exist for so long with that arrogant attitude before the world will be happy to see us destroy ourselves. We need a president with a name like Barack Hussein Obama to show the world that the United States is ready to take an attitude of foreign policy which is much more humble and accepting of diverse cultures.

  2. It’s amazing how after so many posts, Opposing Viewpoints, you can still manage to say so little. The message, such as it is, isn’t exactly a subtle one.

Obama = humble, accepting, patient, open-minded, peaceful, forgiving, loving, caring, smart, honest, respectable, fatherly, hopeful.

Hillary = liar, fake, devil, racist, arrogant, disgusting, Republican.

And you think Jamie is a “binary thinker”? I hope you appreciate the irony of that accusation. I have my issues with both Obama and Hillary. And I don’t agree with Jamie about many things. But come on… I’ve seen more balanced commentary on the Bill O’Reilly show. And he’s certainly no fan of Hillary Clinton.

  3. I like to think that I’m a “bipartisan” thinker rather than “binary.” *chuckle*

Actually, I’m really rather nonpartisan. I don’t trust any politician, especially the ones that say “trust me, I’m different.” R-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-ght.
