Just by chance I happened upon a the following Youtube video which references an episode of The View in which Rosie O’Donnell makes a very classless remark using the words “Ching chong.” (I’d been home, sick, on the day that episode aired, and remember thinking to myself, “Oh, no she di’int!”) If we could only all have the intelligence and wit to so aptly address every issue as this young man does, we would live in a very different world.
Now, I like Rosie. But this young man very eloquently addresses something often seen in today’s society: tunnel vision. Here is this “pillar” of the gay community openly mocking Asian people and not even realizing she’s doing it.
To her credit, Rosie has apologized in her blog. I’m not sure why the blog is in poem format and don’t have the time to find out. Sry. However, both Rosie and the young man make a point we all, Christian or no, Gay or straight, D or R, should embrace: the aim is to enlighten, not debase.
