What a week for Jeremy to go on Vacation. Considering his extensive correspondence with Shirley Phelps-Roper (saving the rest of the gay community the odious task of dealing with those brutish neanderthals), it would be very nice to hear him expound on this situation some more:
A federal judge in Maryland on Thursday ordered liens on the Westboro Baptist Church building and the Phelps-Chartered Law office.
If the case presided over by U.S. District Court Judge Richard D. Bennett is upheld by an appeals court, the church, at 3701 S.W. 12th, and the office building, at 1414 S.W. Topeka Blvd., could be obtained by the court and sold, with the proceeds being applied toward $5 million in damages Bennett imposed on church members for picketing a military funeral.
Wouldn’t it be just fantastic if some gay philanthropic group bought the facility and turned it into a gay youth outreach program, or a retirement home for gay seniors? Talk about making a sil purse out of a sow’s ear.
Heck, I’d be happy if it became a firing range for the Pink Pistols.
I’d love to see Phelps reaction to that.
Or if the state of Maryland simply converted it into a counseling center for victims of domestic abuse.
Numerous members of the Phelps family could probably use that kind of counseling, although the familiar surroundings might make it a little uncomfortable.
Phantastic!
